Brent Green Party

Shahrar Ali is the candidate for the Greens in Brent and Harrow

1 March 2012

Shahrar Ali, who has been a Brent resident for ten years, is standing as the Green Party's London Assembly Candidate for Brent and Harrow. He's promising to offer voters a real choice in the election by standing against 'business as usual'

"I'm standing for election to offer a Green alternative to business-as-usual politics. As a lifelong Londoner, I advocate radical, Green solutions to the everyday problems faced by us all. Elected Greens thrive on service to the people, whether by investing in public transport, holding the police to account, or realising sustainable jobs in renewable energy and waste - to promote quality of life for all without harming the planet!"

Shahrar Ali has actively campaigned for local residents throughout his time in Brent, whether on protection of our green spaces, reliable and affordable public transport, pedestrian safety, transparency over the unaffordable Civic Centre project, or the decimation of our local libraries. Shahrar teaches philosophy for lifelong learners and has a PhD on the topic of lying and deception with reference to public life. He entered Green politics after working as a researcher in the European Parliament on the risks of GM food. He is an officer of London Green Party and author of Why Vote Green.

In 2008, Shahrar Ali contested the London Assembly seat of Brent and Harrow. Our voters increased by 45% over four years to 10,129
